With the 2022/23 season now at an end we would like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to all our players, parents, coaches and committee on another fantastic year for Hillgate Boys FC. There has been a great deal of joy and success throughout the season for all our age groups.
Our Under 8s did tremendously well in their first season. They made it to the last 16 of the Metro 40 Year Celebration Trophy and finished runner’s up in the Metro Cup, having narrowly lost on penalties following a 0-0 draw. One of the many highlights of the season was the fantastic 9 game unbeaten run around the Christmas period.
The Under 10s continue to progress well and despite a tricky start to the season, showed great togetherness to kick on and finish very strong. They ended as runners up in the Bruntwood Group League Cup.
A season of mixed results for our Under 12s with some strong performances and the lads always giving their best. Already building for next season with players added to the squad and recently reaching the semi final of a local competition.
The Under 13s had a great start to season finishing 2nd in the first mini league. They showed great commitment and signs of improvement throughout the year. Keep working hard and the success will come!
The Under 14s had a solid season, finishing respectably in the league. Some great moments and memorable training sessions. They showed huge potential and promise for pushing on next season.
A huge congratulations on a remarkable season to our Under 15s who convincingly won the league and cup double in their first season in the East Manchester league. That success was followed by a team trip and tournament in Barcelona for a much deserved celebration.
Our senior teams have both had exceptional seasons. The Saturday’s finished runners up in the league having only lost once all season and just being pipped to the title by an excellent Milltown in a greatly contested 5-5 draw in the final week against the winners. The Sunday’s did brilliantly in their inaugural season together, establishing themselves in the league and getting to the cup final, where they were narrowly beaten 3-2 at Edgeley Park.
We once again say thank you for all your efforts and commitment. We wish you all a great summer and are looking forward to seeing you all again for more success and enjoyment next season.
